our Story
It all began in November 2015 when Abbey Community College Justice Group and Ard Scoil na Mara Peace & Justice met with Dr. Phil Brennan of the Romero Institute and the High Hopes Choir to learn about homelessness. The High Hopes Choir is a Waterford-Based choir made up of individuals who identify as Homeless or have done so in the past. The Students were inspired by the talk and decided to jump right in and try raise awareness around the issue of Homelessness. The students helped with a Christmas Carol Service, did artwork, started a Facebook Page And so was born the Humans of the South East. However, a new name was found that the students felt better represented their campaign and the message they were trying to pass on to Irish people. The One Campaign for Change was born and ready to make change happen! Since the campaign began, other schools have been inspired to get involved and join the Campaign and the movement slowly takes off throughout the south-east! However, we need your support, your help to spread the word to end homelessness!
